Casting Light - Theatre and Workshops on issues facing young people.
Casting Light is a team of experienced specialists running workshops to help young people explore vital issues. We explore three main topics Social issues, Sustainability and Healthy Bodies.
We provide accessible workshops that also support schools to become Healthy Schools.
Our workshops are creative, inspiring and really make a difference! They encourage young people to develop an increased awareness of the world around them and the impact of their choices, encouraging vital values such as respect, consideration and responsibility for their planet and those around them. Due to the practical design of our workshops they are accessible to children of all ages and abilities.
Social Issues workshops
All topics within citizenship, PSHE and SEAL are covered including issues such as bullying, diversity, drug/alcohol education and disability/diversity awareness. We have a number of powerful Plays that can be performed as a stimulus to the workshops.
We aim to take Theatre in Education to the next level not only in the content of our own plays but within the pieces of drama we help children devise.
Sustainability Workshops
Our sustainability and climate change workshop programme aims to raise awareness of the anticipated effects of climate change both locally and globally, to develop an understanding of sustainability and its tools, and to cultivate a sense of responsibility for the impact we have on the planet!
These stimulating and inspiring workshops use role-play, discussion and lively presentations to cover such subjects as waste awareness, food production, composting and permaculture, water awareness and responsibility; global issues vs local impact and creating and connecting to community projects.
Healthy Bodies
These workshops are full of animation, fun, games and learning about our health! Holistic education on food, exercise and the inner workings of the different organs. Children get to learn about the effects of food and life style on the body and emotions connected to the separate organs through a character called Morgan! Ground breaking health education from leading specialist Sue Woodd.
